Someone has to do it!
For over fifty years I was the motoring correspondent for the Cambridge Evening News. It meant supplying a new road test each week and travelling to many parts of the world in order to test cars away from the public gaze.
Staying at top five star hotels and driving very expensive as well as ordinary cars - and being paid for doing it - sounds like the ultimate existence. But it always involved a Cinderella-like return to reality, battling with airport delays and the notorious M25.
It enabled me to put together my travel talks whilst working, so to speak, and to follow my other interest, visiting gardens, in various parts of the world. This talk covers a wide canvas and must surely contain something of interest to everyone. Not solely just for motoring geeks!
