Iceland, Hotter than you Think! (New)
Iceland might be right on the Arctic Circle but beneath your feet it is positively boiling. During a short visit to the island I discovered greenhouses that produced over 300 tons of tomatoes with the aid of free hot water from beneath the ground.
Reykjavik residents have either free or very cheap household heating due to the availability of water near boiling point and then there is the famous Blue Lagoon where swimmers enter gingerly all the year round, because it feels like stepping into a very hot bath!
Massive waterfalls due to melting glacial snow and of course the famous Northern Lights make Iceland a place of total fascination and that is without mentioning whales visible off shore, Icelandic ponies and Puffins.
I did not know what to expect when I went there. Now I cannot wait to go back again. In the meantime I am very happy to share my experiences with you via the better part of 100 slides which as with all my talks last around 40/45 minutes.
